Aim: Men and women don’t examine abortion as family planning method and the last

             ones use safe abortion services on the basis of informed choices.

WHO statistics data show that annually at least 46 mln. pregnancies end with induced abortions and 20 mln. of them are not safe ones. About 13% deaths because of pregnancies are related to complications in the results of unsafe abortions which is about 67 thousand deaths annually. Complications in the result of unsafe abortions assist in development of serious unwanted consequences for the women’s health. That is why Reproductive Health Alliance puts as a main goal the promotion of safe abortion technologies, its quality increase, improvement of access of population to information and educational programs in the sphere of family planning, including pre and post abortion counseling and strengthening of men’s involvement into family planning process to prevent unwanted pregnancies and abortions.











Alliance is actively assisting in development of medical providers capacity through the whole country in the sphere of safe abortion service providing. Within the frameworks of safe abortion projects under the support of Safe Abortion Action Fund and Comprehensive Abortion Care Alliance has trained more than 100 medical providers on the issues of progressive technologies use of medication abortion, manual vacuum aspiration, pre and post abortion counseling.

PU RHAK was actively involved into development of national protocol on manual vacuum aspiration and continues to participate in the development of medication abortion protocol. RHAK Clinics on Safe Abortion and Family Planning opened in 2008 with the support of SAAF and IPPF became the pilot ones on the promotion of medication abortion. Alliance has introduced a rapid assessment of service quality on abortion.




Today we have a professional expertise in mentioned issues and actively collaborate with Kyrgyz Association of obstetricians-gynecologists and neonatologists.

In RHAK Clinics on Safe Abortion and Family Planning highly qualified specialists work, who had preparation and trainings due to international standards and use only modern technologies. The Clinic’s activity is supposed to expand access to services on safe abortion, family planning and reproductive health.
